Engineer by day, conductor by night! Sean has loved music his whole life. He caught the conducting bug in high school but hadn't picked up the baton in years, until he was asked to conduct an orchestra for a local theater company. Conducting a full-length musical was a stretch but once he gave it a try, he never looked back! Sean has conducted more than a dozen pits, including The Wizard of Oz, The Pirates of Penzance, Titanic, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Honk!, Seussical, and The Little Mermaid.
Cole and Sarah Grace Groot have been directing and choreographing amateur and community theater in Mid and West Michigan for the past 15 years. The beauty of theater uniting people of many different backgrounds towards a unique goal of performing has always drawn them to the stage. Directing, choreographing, and performing have been passions for them since both their early childhoods. They have works under their belt such as Seussical, The Pirates of Penzance, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Annie and many others. They are blessed beyond compare to share theater as husband and wife, and by their 3 children, Ziah, Alitza and Boaz, and they strive to serve God and community wherever they can.
Landscape designer Kristin Faasse has teamed up with Midway to promote the amazing things that the theater is doing in the community! As a lover of all things creative, Kristin is right at home developing the marketing materials that grow Midway's brand and identity. With a positive attitude and no lack of ideas, Kristin brings fun and excitement to the Midway team.
In her free time, Kristin loves being outside in her garden or exploring built and natural landscapes. This interest flows well into her other job of owning and running a landscape architecture business with her wonderful husband, Jonathan. Kristin loves God and loves Midway's mission to use the arts to reflect the creativity of the God who created the universe!
Stacey began singing shortly after she began talking (maybe before?) for anyone who would listen to her and allow her to be an occasional diva. She started studying voice at the age of ten, continuing through high school and moving on to Cedarville University where she earned her Bachelor’s of Music in Vocal Performance with a minor in Theatre. She began teaching voice students at the age of 18 and has since taught a few hundred voice and piano students ranging in age from 4 to 64. While originally focused on a career as a performer, Stacey discovered great joy and satisfaction in teaching private students proper technique that they can use regardless of the genre or repertoire they choose to sing. She does still enjoy the occasional gig—particularly opera, jazz, and musical theatre. Right now, her main gig is being Matthew’s wife and Landon and Isla Jane’s mom. She is thrilled to be working with MTC!
Becoming a producer was the last thing on Christy's to-do list - but when the theater company her children performed with needed help, she stepped in. Immediately, she loved the job and was thrilled to work on several shows. When that ended, she realized how much she loved working with the casts, so she's thrilled to have the opportunity to carry the clipboard once again. Some shows she produced include Honk!, The Pirates of Penzance, Brigadoon, The Wizard of Oz, Anne of Green Gables, Titanic, Seussical, and The Little Mermaid.
Midway was formed by Christians who are thankful to God for his good gift of the arts. We desire to encourage people of all walks of life to use their talents on stage, behind the scenes or in the orchestra. We hope to provide a light in what can be a dark world, giving people an opportunity to perform in an encouraging, loving environment. We believe we can produce quality theater while building up those who perform on stage, as well as giving non-performers the chance to participate in live theater by playing an instrument in the orchestra or working backstage. Join us! You'll have a blast!
As a 501(c)3 non-profit, MTC has board members and bylaws. Read all about that here!
